Core Capabilities
Repeatable technical and supply chain capabilities designed to eliminate risks in custom magnet procurement.
The Problem, the Action and the Expected Outcome
Each capability states the customer problem it answers, what we do about it, the outcome to expect, and the technical boundary it stays inside.
Sample & Drawing Technical Evaluation
Customer has a legacy sample, or a partial 2D/3D drawing with no clear magnet grade or magnetization specification. The sample's service history is usually unknown, so wear, corrosion or partial demagnetisation may already have changed the part that has to be reproduced. Grade, orientation and magnetization pattern are undocumented, so nobody has an agreed basis for judging whether a supplied part actually matches the sample.
Every item in the result is labelled for what it is: measured on your part, read from the evidence, or still open. The part in hand is logged with what it shows — dimensions against the drawing, the features that carry the function, the coating or surface condition, and the magnetization the assembly requires. Open items are listed with the test or the sample validation each one needs, and the questions are worked between your engineers and the producing factory's engineers.
The result is written for the decisions that come next: whether the sample can be reproduced as it stands, which specification items have to be settled before tooling, and what the first production check should measure. What the project asks for in the way of deliverables is agreed with you for the project rather than fixed on this page.
- The evaluation depends on a readable reference: a physical sample, or a drawing and model detailed enough to describe the part and its interfaces.
- A dimension measurement alone, or a surface-flux or flux reading alone, does not establish Br, Hcj or the material grade. Where a magnetic property has to be confirmed, the appropriate testing is coordinated and recorded per project, and the result is reported as such.
- A sample that has been in service limits what can be concluded: wear, corrosion or demagnetisation may have changed it since it was made, and where the original specification is missing, grade and magnetic properties stay open until testing or sample validation settles them.
- Where neither a sample nor a usable drawing exists, the starting point has to be the customer's functional requirement instead, which is a design discussion rather than a drawing evaluation.
- We are a supplier and project coordinator, and production happens in partner factories, so no result is presented as verified beyond the evidence that supports it and a complete reverse-engineering result is not promised for every sample.
Material Selection & Substitution
Customer faces cost pressure using expensive rare earth magnets, or experiences demagnetization with low-grade ferrites.
We work from the operating conditions the customer supplies — service temperature, air gap, available space and annual quantity — to propose alternative grades or optimized geometries.
Documented substitution assessment stating the expected cost effect where there is one and the thermal headroom at service temperature, to assess whether substitution is feasible within the existing envelope; geometry or magnetic-circuit changes may be needed.
The review is only as good as the operating data behind it. The service temperature and the working conditions of the part have to come from the customer's own application data, testing or simulation; where those are unknown, a substitution can be proposed but not confirmed as safe, and the analysis stops at the parameters that are supplied. Substitution does not remove tooling: a different grade, orientation or geometry normally means new tooling or a re-qualification of existing tooling. Where ferrite cannot meet the flux requirement inside the available envelope, no substitution applies and the rare earth grade stays, with the optimization moving to geometry or grade series instead. The cost range reflects the material and processing scope of the evaluated part and is not a committed price.
Second Source Supply Chain Development
OEM is single-sourced with a domestic or local supplier experiencing capacity crunches or uncompetitive pricing.
We establish a second production route at a screened partner factory in China whose process fits the part, under master sample control and with one accountable counterpart.
A second production route qualified against the approved part and released only through your own approval process, with the sealed master sample retained so later batches can still be compared against it.
A second source reproduces a specification; it does not replace the customer's own approval process. Where the part is approved inside the customer's own system, qualification of the second source stays subject to that approval, and we supply the technical documentation and samples the process requires. Drawing and material have to be settled before development starts: if grade, orientation or magnetization pattern are still unresolved, that evaluation comes first. Where no retained master sample exists, the reference has to be rebuilt from a drawing evaluation before the second source can be measured against it. Demand that is intermittent or very small may not support a dedicated tooling and inspection route, and in that case a second source is not the right answer.
Cross-Material & Cross-Factory Matching
Single factories specialize only in wet ferrite or dry blocks, forcing buyers to manage several separate suppliers.
We assign each part of your bill of materials to the optimal dedicated factory, consolidating QA, shipping, and billing.
One accountable partner, consolidated international shipments, and consistent project control with part-specific specifications.
Matching assigns each part to a factory, but it does not make one plant capable of every process: the work may require multiple production lines or factories — the difference is in coordination and accountability, not in the number of factories. Parts have to be defined before they can be matched: where a drawing or grade is still unresolved, the technical evaluation precedes the assignment. Consolidation also depends on timing, because combined shipping only works when the parts for one load are ready together; where production schedules do not align, shipments are grouped as closely as the schedule allows rather than forced. Multi-factory matching does not remove the customer's own incoming inspection, which remains the final check at their end.
Risk-Based Quality Coordination
Fear of receiving out-of-tolerance batches or demagnetized lots once full container payment has cleared.
We coordinate quality around the risks that apply to the part: sealed master sample retention, the producing factory's outgoing inspection against the standards agreed for that part, reviewed by ProfurtherMag per project risk, and documented packaging verification.
Batch-to-batch comparison against the reference sample, with the arrangement recorded in the order.
The reference has to exist before it can control anything: a sealed master sample requires an approved part, so where the customer holds no approved reference one is established from the drawing and sample evaluation before batch control begins. Magnetic and dimensional testing is sampling-based on most parts, which means a batch is accepted on evidence rather than on a complete inspection of every piece, and the customer's own incoming inspection remains the final acceptance at their end. Demagnetization and grade-related risks cannot be controlled by dimensional inspection alone, so the criteria that matter have to be stated as magnetic parameters on the drawing rather than inferred from shape. Third-party laboratory inspection adds an independent result but also adds time to the shipment schedule, so it is planned into the delivery rather than added afterwards.
